We watched the coverage live in 3 of my classes.
I watched live as the second building fall and the whole class just went silent. I live near the naval base in san diego (not too close but close enough) and my dad works next door. By the way it's the biggest naval base in america. So everyone there was spassing!! Terrorists suck!

You guys were lucky that you found out as soon as possible. Most of the school day went by before our principle came on the intercom and told us what happened.
I heard a lot of general b.s. from kids who had heard it from teachers or noticed the headlines when they went online in the computer lab. Nobody really knew, or understood, what happened, and there was a lot of rumors flying around. Everything from that figgin' Ibn Ladan being responsible to Neo-Nazis and extreme right-wingists (a` la Timothy McVeigh >( ) being responsible. I kept asking my Literature teacher what happened, but she only said "I don't know". I think she was trying to keep us calm, but we went from being scared to being angry. We needed to know.
Finally, the principle announced what happened, and told us that 2 of the planes were from Logan Airport, an airport near us. Everyone went dead silent and went white. We all felt somehow responsible.
In the hallways, it was quieter than normal, but the voices that spoke were all furious. Everyone was angry. Some of us felt so bad we couldn't even eat lunch. At lunchtime, I tried to get a soda from the machine, and I was shocked to see the size of the crowds that had gathered around the payphones. Everyone was trying to call home, wanting to know if their moms were okay. Every voice I heard shook. I got angrier.
I knew something serious had happened, but I couldn't grasp the scope of what happened. In every class I demanded to know what happened, and everyone wanted to find a TV and put it on to see. The teachers said no.
We were dismissed early, and I ran into my house. My mom wasn't downstairs, but she had left the TV on, just in time for me to see a huge jet slam into the World Trade Center.
I'm so upset and scared, but that's all canceled up because I'm angry. I'm so angry I'm physically sick. I want revenge. My parents want revenge. We sat huddled around the TV, screaming at the reporters to tell us who the hell is responsible, screaming for the government to do SOMETHING. We were enraged when we saw the Palestinians dancing in the streets, celebrating the attack. We cheered when we saw Afghanistan bombed, that's how crazy we were.
But now? I don't know what to do.

I think I'm in some sort of shock. I live very close to the Pentagon. When that plane hit, my house shook. I didn't take much note of the plane when it went over, because Reagan airport is close-by, but then there was this BOOOM and the ground jumped. I thought at first it was something that a road crew did outside. I went out to see what happened and they were pointing up in the sky and yelling. I asked what happen and they told me a plane went down around the Pentagon. One guy asked to use my phone and he couldn't get thru. At this point I turned on the tv and saw the Pentagon on fire!! Then they show the World trade center burning then falling down. It's been a very freaky day here. When the government shut down the roads were bumper to bumper for hours.
Ironically the weather was so beautiful today. It's surreal. I sincerly hope everyone reading this is alright, and that your loved ones are alright too.
And I just want to say to people in other countries, Thanks for your support. I saw people in Europe holding candlelight vigils, and statesmen promising aid and a day of mourning. I really appreciate that, as I'm sure all Americans do. I don't know how to express how much I appreciate that.

My mom's students watched t.v. all day, I think in every class they had.

I was at work. I went to use the printer and noticed most everyone wasn't at their desks.
I found someone and asked where everybody went, and she told me a plane had hit the world trade center.
I found everyone else in the break room staring at the TV.
I watched the second plane hit the other tower. I saw them switch to coverage of the pentagon, when they weren't even sure what had hit the building. I heard them announce the evacuation of nearly every building in washington. I watched as the first tower started to fall, and then the second.
I work and live near an international airport, and saw the congestion as, for the first time, all airplanes in American were grouned.
And now I'm watching the president as, there's all but talk of war.
And we don't even know who's responsible.

Yeah, I heard. I was getting ready to go to school (I live in colorado) and my mom yelled for me. I was tramatized. The poor people. And the fire fighters who died when the buildings collapsed. My dad is a fire captain, so that hit me hard.
In memory of all those who have perished this morning; the passengers and pilots on the USAir and AA flights, the workers in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and all the innocent bystanders. Our prayers go out to the friends and family of the deceased.

What part of CO, Lasombra?
Back to the issue at hand, my feelings are this:
I care deeply about what happened. It rocked me to my core and I still can't fathom the full repercussions this will have. I am saddened and frightened. But this is all giving way to a new feeling: I loathe being an American. Tragedy in America makes Americans just plain retarded. This sudden and rampant hubris is making me sick. I loathe the people declaring that we should "Go about business as usual! If we shut down, they win!" News Flash, people! If we go about business as usual the ones responsible will no doubt want to send us another message, most likely a stronger one. I'm sick of the Media jumping to conclusions. New flash, media people! You jump to conclusions and all the feeble minded people of this nation will agree with you! Didn't you f*cking learn anything from the election?!?
The people in New York were doing what I thought they should. They were banding together, they were trying to help. Lines FOUR HOURS LONG waiting to give blood. THAT'S what we should be doing. We should start the recovery, not the revenge.

I was at work (government research lab) listening to Elliot in the Morning on DC101 (Spatch might be the only one to have a clue on that...). They had Ben Folds in the studio doing a live set, and as soon as he finished the first song, they cut to commerical, then interrupted the commercial with the news of the first plane crash. They start tapping into the TV feeds to find out some info, and they get ABC News just in time for the second plane crash. At that point, he starts calling all of his contacts from NYC and Boston to get more info. And people start calling in about the Pentagon crash before the TV stations report it.
By that time, over half the lab was in the main conference room watching the coverage. Nobody could really say anything. They sent us home shortly after 10:30...not much would have gotten done today anyway.
I didn't even head back to my home...I went straight to my parents' house. The whole day has just seemed surreal. While there I started going through some boxes I had stored away in the basement when I moved out and found tons of pictures from high school and college (including a way over-exposed photo of me in my Nightcrawler costume...all you can really see are the gloves and boots). In a way, it made me realize just how innocent life was before today.
Many prayers and thoughts to those affected directly and indirectly by today's events.

Hey everyone.
It's hard for me to even begin to express how I feel.
Honestly it still feels like i'm having a really bad dream. I was over my buddy's house just goofing off, and at about 11:00 am she came running into the room almost hysterical.... "The World Trade center is gone....!"
I turned on the T.V and it felt like I was about to pass out. Unimaginable. Unbelievable. Hours later and I keep waiting for someone to pinch me and say "wake up"!
Most of my family still lives in New York and I was beyond relieved to find out that they are all O.K. But the thought of what this means and what might still yet happen....scary, scary stuff.
My heart goes out to everyone and thank you to all of the international Elfaholics for your prayers and heart felt condolonces.
I love all of you guys and I really, really hope that this isnt signaling a very dark and dangerous turn for America and the rest of the world.
